New Orleans, LA
Home Automation, Inc. (HAI), a national manufacturer of residential
and commercial automation and security systems has been chosen by
Ladies Home Journal to participate in the renovation of a home
in Wilton, Connecticut that was originally built in 1955.
The plans of the house were featured on the pages of Ladies Home Journal
in 1954 in an article that showcased cutting-edge products for
building and furnishing homes in the middle of the 20th century.
When a family of four recently purchased the house, they contacted
Ladies Home Journal regarding their plans to completely renovate the home to
meet the modern demands of their lifestyle.
"At Ladies Home Journal, we could appreciate the fact that the house
we featured in the middle of the 1900's no longer represented current
trends in building and design products," stated Kimberlie Waugh, Decorating
and Home Design Editor for Ladies Home Journal. "We decided joining
efforts with the family would be the perfect opportunity to reflect on the
past story as well as create a new and exciting feature. Again, making
up-to-the-minute trends and innovative products for the 21st century
renovations the theme of the feature!"
That's where Home Automation, Inc. came in.
"The concept of a fully automated home is no longer confined to
home technology enthusiasts," notes Jay McLellan, President of HAI.
"The idea of integrating energy management, lighting, security, fire protection,
and appliance control is becoming as common as central air conditioning."
McLellan attributes the increased acceptance of home automation in the last
few years to advances in the industry which has led to lower prices, and user-friendly
access of the systems via telephones, personal computers, and the Internet.
"A homeowner now has the ability to adjust settings for lighting, heating and
air, security and appliances via our HAI Web-Link software over the Internet
from anywhere in the world," explains McLellan. "You can literally disarm the
security system or check and adjust the temperature in your family room in
Pittsburgh, from your laptop in Rome, Italy!"
"What better way to make their newly renovated home fit their
lifestyles than to automate it for convenience, comfort, energy savings,
and safety!" Notes John McClure of Progressive Projection, who will
be installing the system. " Once my clients have lived with a home automation
system, they wonder how they ever lived without one."
The ten-page feature on the renovations of the home can be seen in the
October and November 2000 issues of the Ladies Home Journal.
