HAI, the leading manufacturer of integrated security and automation
products since 1985, has announced that they have licensed Vicar Networks'
Remote Device Management (RDM) platform to deliver broadband-based remote access
service for HAI customers. Vicar's RDM platform will extend HAI's functionality
to deliver remote access for control of temperature, security, and lighting via
the Internet or any digital cell phone.
"Vicar's technology enables us to offer remote access on
a simple and easy-to-use subscription basis," explains Jay McLellan, HAI
President. "Using Vicar HomeSM, our customers can remotely
adjust the security system, heating, cooling and lighting controls from their
office computer, laptop computer or cell phone for a low monthly cost."
The Vicar HomeSM service is an affordable,
web-based automation control solution. It's the first hosted application that
allows customers to easily install remote access for home automation using a
standard PC. Customers can access their HAI home systems through the Vicar HomeSM
web site or any standard US cell phone. Vicar's proprietary client-side software
automatically synchronizes the web site with the HAI controller in the home
through a secure broadband connection.
"We're excited about this partnership because it extends
Vicar's platform to a large customer base and demonstrates our ability to
interface with advanced systems like HAI's," says Robert Donner, President
of Atlanta-based Vicar Networks. "Home automation and energy management
continue to grow in demand as it becomes more affordable and less complicated
for the average homeowner. Partnerships such as this one are an important part
of continuing this trend."
HAI is a privately held manufacturer of
integrated automation and security products for residential and commercial use.
Incorporated in 1985, HAI has developed a full line of award-winning automation
products, including three different automation controllers, communicating
programmable thermostats, and software that allows access and control of an
automation system over the Internet. All products are sold through HAI's
worldwide network of Distribution Partners and installed by over 1000 trained
dealers. For more information, please visit www.homeauto.com.
