New Orleans, LA
Home Automation, Inc. (HAI), the leading
manufacturer of integrated automation and security products has announced it
will introduce its latest software product, Web-Link II, at the 2001
International CES which will be held January 6 - 9, 2001 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
CES is one of the largest industry showcases of consumer technology in the
world.
Web-Link II is the newest and most comprehensive
version of HAI's multi-award winning Web-Link software. The original version
of Web-Link was the first commercially available software product that allowed a
homeowner to access and control his home automation system over the Internet.
Web-Link allows a homeowner to check and adjust temperatures, arm or disarm the
security system, or adjust lights over the Internet. The initial Web-Link
product was introduced at the CES in January 2000 and was the recipient of the
prestigious CES Innovations 2000 Award for Design and Engineering, and the Home
Automation Association's 2000 Mark of Excellence Award in the Home Control
& Networking Software category.
With Web-Link II, HAI has taken this technology
one step further by adding features that allow a homeowner to view his home with
video surveillance based on Microsoft Windows Media video streaming technology.
"Web-Link II is an innovative product that
demonstrates the power of streaming media and the versatility of the Windows
Media technology platform," said Jonathan Usher, group product manager for
the Digital Media Division at Microsoft Corp. "HAI's customers will gain
peace of mind and security from the industry-leading picture quality offered by
Windows Media."
In addition, Web-Link II allows wireless access
over Personal Digital Assistants, hand-held PCs, and Internet phones. Web-Link
II can also send instant messages and emails to a homeowner based on programmed
events such as; the kids have arrived home from school, or the security alarm
has been activated.
"By capitalizing on the digital broadband
connectivity being deployed worldwide," noted Jay McLellan, HAI President,
"Web-Link II allows us to offer our customers the very latest advances in
technology and apply it in a way that truly affects the safety and convenience
of today's homeowner."
"The theme of the 2001 International CES,
Your Source for Workstyle and Lifestyle Technology, made it a particularly
appropriate venue to introduce this extraordinary product", observed HAI
Marketing Coordinator, Allison Read. HAI will be giving live demonstrations of
Web-Link II's capabilities in Booth 6238, located in the new Home Security
Pavilion.
