HAI, the leading manufacturer of integrated
automation and security products since 1985, has announced upgrades to its award
winning Web-Link II software.
Introduced in early 2000, HAI's original
Web-Link was the first commercially available software to allow a homeowner to
access and control lights, temperature and security functions over the Internet.
In 2001, Web-Link II added video surveillance, wireless access over a PDA or
web-enabled phone, and the ability to send text emails based on programmed
events.
The new upgrades expand Web-Link II's
capabilities even further. It can now record video and audio, either on demand,
or based on a system event. For instance, Web-Link II can be programmed to
record up to 12 hours of video/audio upon activation of the security alarm,
delivery of a package, or arrival of a housekeeper or pet sitter. A working or
traveling parent, viewing events at home from a PC or laptop, may record video
of children arriving home from school or to monitor childcare.
Additionally Web-Link II can now send emails to
homeowners in an HTML format. The email contains event details, as well as
system information (security arming status, and time of sunrise/sunset),
temperatures (of all thermostats and temperature sensors) and the latest events
from the system log. The email notification may be prompted by a programmed
event or as part of a scheduled status update.
The new version of Web-Link II supports HAI's
recently released Omni II and OmniPro II controllers, as well as the Omni LT.
Registered owners of Web-Link II may obtain the new upgrades through a free
download on HAI's website. All currently shipping versions of Web-Link II will
include the new upgrades. Web-Link II retails for $299 and requires no
subscription fees.
Web-Link won the prestigious Consumer Electronic
Show's Innovations 2000 Award for Design and Engineering, and the Home
Automation & Networking Association's 2000 Mark of Excellence Award in the
Home Control & Networking Software category. Web-Link II was named as one of
the Security Industry's Finest in addition to receiving the Home Automation
Product Achievement Award, both given by the Security Industry Association in
2001. Web-Link II was also awarded the ADEX Gold Award for Design Excellence in
the Software & Technology category and was chosen as one of the top products
of 2001 by the Editors of Electronic House magazine.
